Toddler Discipline Obtaining A Good Balance Of Actions
Being a parent now for almost sixteen years I can really understand the fine balance between toddler discipline, and squashing the spirit of a kid.
When my first daughter Ellie was born I was completely new with this thing called parenting, and I found a lot of the parenting books to be contradictory at greatest and some just plain silly at worst. This might sound harsh to many new parents who are looking for a clear path being a parent.
I understand being a parent is a tricky business particularly when it comes down to discipline and specifically toddler discipline, if you opt for the free range approach and just let your kids sort of develop in the vain hope all will be fine, then you are likely to be living some sort of living nightmare, with your kid completely dictating the agenda and totally running your life.
On the other hand if you opt for total discipline as liked by many over the years, then you be in danger of totally losing the true essences of your kid's character.
I would like to state that their is a holy grail of toddler discipline, that you could follow and tick off the list as you go, and believe me some individuals would try and offer it to you like this. The way I see it, it's regarding two core things boundaries and communication particularly as your child begins to get to the toddler stage and over and above.
I still find this to be the case with my 16 and 13 old kids, I have what i refer to as my fall back position, that's as far as I will carry on any given issue, that's my boundary that in many instances my children over a number of years have learnt to identify, however within those boundaries their is countless opportunities of freedom of expression and chances to grow as a human being that I personally feel is vital.
To do this though good communication is essential while implementing toddler discipline, to this end I have been highly fortunate to have learnt things like NLP which have aided me shape my speaking skills and body language to get maximum engagement with my children.
